As a long time friend and as his bishop for thirteen years I would describe Gray Temple not only as a man of great faith and commitment but also as “a priest’s priest”— a person who would listen and was trusted, a person who understood people and the structures within which they lived and worked. He was the person they could go to for counsel and guidance.

Thanks to Gray and Jean for what I consider to have been a pivotal day in my Christian life, both from a theological and practical point of view. For me personally, it has made me more aware of my need to forgive people, and of when I am not forgiving them, but should. It also gave me a practical process to put me on the path to forgiving. Plus it expanded my concept of grace, and I hope will make me more accepting of people, whatever their situation.
To be on retreat with Gray Temple is to be stretched in body, mind and spirit. Gray has a way to make you think totally out of the box about the normal daily things that impact our spiritual and personal lives. The excitement this generates creates a bonding among the participants that lets the Holy Spirit just flood in and begin a real process of transformation. I have left his retreats feeling uplifted, cared for and on a new and exciting part of my own spiritual journey.
An out of the box thinker - Gray will open your eyes and heart to the ‘Yes’ that lives in your environment of ‘No.’ Gray’s adventurous life experience gives him the ability to see deeply into life’s pregnant mysteries.
Gray Temple is a master at helping people have conversations. He is comfortable working in a variety of modalities and can “read” a group as well as anyone I know. From deeply intimate spiritual encounters to serious head-knocking, Gray has the skills to invite people in and help them turn unfocused chatter into holy conversation.
My wife and I have heard Gray preach on many occasions and agree that we have never heard anyone preach with a deeper understanding of the Gospels and their relevance to the present….
Recently Gray was the presenter at a conference in our parish. He led the group through a process for dealing with conflict and how to discuss sensitive issues while maintaining Christian relationships. The conference was successful and met its intended purpose to our complete satisfaction. We are considering other issues that Gray may address for us in the near future; especially issues that threaten the unity of the parish.
Gray Temple brings a strong faith, a thorough knowledge of the scriptures, and a sense of history and tradition to his presentations. He is thoughtful and thought-provoking; willing to answer questions and entertain comments, both in favor of and against his own well thought-out beliefs. He does not attempt to persuade listeners to accept his positions, but does challenge them to consider thoroughly their own positions in light of scripture and reason. He is an exciting speaker with a good sense of humor and a respect for his listeners. He will certainly awaken any parish from its slumbers and its reluctance to consider change.
